I grew up in Nepal in the eighties. My parents studied the use of medicinal plants by the mountain villagers. My mother kept a photographic archive of the ceremonies and the daily life in the Kathmandu valley which she then developed to 35mm slides. But some images she couldn’t capture: my nightly hallucinations, the legend of Narasingha told by our nanny Saraswati, the spell that turned my father’s arm into a purulent eczema, the reenactments of the Ramayana, the collective trances, the house phone that caught on fire, the lepers’ temple, the revolution of 1990.
Photographic slides filmed by Fotonica (Almería) and developed by Revelab (Barcelona).
